Vitae Studies French job seekers' criteria in their choice of future job.

Do you know the reasons why job seekers choose to accept a job offer over another ? Do you wish to attract the best talents for your company ?
Vitae's French recruiters reached out to 4000 men and women in order to understand their criteria in their choice of job. Among them, 62 were interviewed by our researchers.

Sample
Our sample is composed of :
68% of men / 32% of women
12,9% are currently employed / 87,1% are active job seekers
9,7% are aged 18 to 25 / 16,1% are aged 26 to 30 / 19,4% are aged 31 to 38 / 41,9% are aged 39 to 48 / 12,9% are aged above 49.
38,7% are employees, 37,1% are managers, 6,5% are students, 3,2% are independents

Results of the study
Gender
For both men and women, the most important criteria are the job description and the type of contract.Â
Men thought that the least important criteria were the type of company and the benefits offered by the company.
Women thought that the least important criteria were the type of company and the responsibilities of the position.
Age
From 18 to 25 yo : average job hunting period lasts 4 months / the two most important criteria were the job description and the type of contract / they are pessimistic
Above 49 yo : average job hunting periods lasts 1year and 3 months / the three most important criteria were the type of contract, the job description and the skills to be developed on the job / they feel pessimisitc
From 31 to 38 yo : average job hunting period lasts 5 months / the two most important criteria were the job description and the type of contract
From 39 to 48 yo : average job hunting period lasts 4 months / the two most important criteria were the job description and the salary
Above 49 yo : average job hunting periods lasts 1year and 3 months / the three most important criteria were the type of contract, the job description and the skills to be developed on the job / they feel pessimistic
Status
For employees, the most important criteria are the job description and the type of contract. The type of company and benefits are the least important.
For managers, the most important criteria are the job description and the salary; the least important are the type of company and benefits.
For indépendant workers, the most important criteria are the evolution opportunities and the salary ;  skills and responsibilities are the least important.
Students care most of the skills to be developed on the job, and least about benefits and the company's image.
